As the academic year
passes the 2005 mark, I am very pleased to share with you some of
the achievements of our Center Associates and Friends of the
Virtual Center for Supernetworks. I congratulate them all! Anna

Associates!
Dr. Jose M. Cruz
of the University of Connecticut was selected to participate in
the INFORMS Young Researchers Roundtable that will take place at the
INFORMS Practitioners Conference in Palm Spring, California, April
17-19, 2005. He will join other young researchers from leading
universities to interact with practitioners on major problems
faced by industry. Dr. Patrizia Daniele of the
University of Catania was promoted to Associate Professor. Dr. Ding Zhang of SUNY Oswego is
part of a major project in China on supply chains which is sponsored by
the Chinese Scientific Foundation. Zugang "Leo" Liu will take part
in the new project with Professor Anna Nagurney funded by the
Center for Teaching at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Fuminori Toyasaki successfully
defended his doctoral dissertation proposal. Tina Wakolbinger was elected
President of the University of Massachusetts INFORMS Student Chapter
and her article on the chapter was featured in ORMS Tomorrow. The
chapter was selected to be a Spotlight Chapter. Kudos to Friends of the Center! Warmest

Panos Pardalos from the University of Florida who was elected
a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science
(AAAS).
